College Magazine Annotation
Font:
The font is very modern to match and appeal with its target
audience (young people). It is very bright and eye catching which matches with
the rest of the content on the front cover, such as the image, which gives a
happy vibe and makes you want to buy the magazine.
Image:
The image is of a young girl who looks like a student. She
is wearing headphones, which links to music which most college students are
interested in, this makes it more appealing and have more in common with the
reader. The model in the photo is of a girl that is of a foreign race which
means that the magazine will appeal to everyone. Her facial expression is not
ecstatic, which could suggest that she is feeling very nervous and apprehensive
about starting at a new university or college, which links to the title, like
many fresher’s do. The image is in the middle of the cover, which is what the
rule of thirds applies. This means that the image on the background is one of
the first things that you look at, which is usually the thing that attracts
most readers, as the image is set to appeal to the audience. The model’s face
is in the middle of the cover, which allows the audience to relate to whatever
the model is demonstrating in the image. In this case, the model’s emotion
looks bland and nervous, which will attract fresher’s to buy the magazine as
they may be feeling miserable about starting college.
There are 4 colours in this image, 2 of them are very
feminine colours which matches the content in the magazine (girls edition).
This attracts female readers which is the desired audience. The colour yellow
releases a happy emotion in the audience’s head as it is related with
happiness.
